Restart Scheduling

Rust Server Restart Schedule

Daily restarts your players see coming.

Set a restart schedule once and Panelra restarts your Rust server on time, with a countdown in chat, a world save before shutdown, and a way to cancel or force restart when you need to.

Schedules in Your Time Zone

Restart every day, on weekdays, on weekends or on the days you pick, at the hour and minute you choose. Add several schedules to one server if you need more than one restart a day.

Graceful Countdown

Players get chat warnings as the restart gets closer, then the world is saved before the server stops. Pick a warning time of 1, 3, 5, 10 or 15 minutes.

Cancel or Force Restart

Cancel a pending restart while the countdown is running. If a server is frozen and not answering, a force restart stops it and starts it again right away.

1

Set a restart schedule in a few clicks

Open the server's restart settings, pick the hour and minute, and choose how often it repeats: every day, weekdays only, weekends only, or a custom set of days. Times are shown in your own time zone, a preview shows the schedule in plain words, and the schedule list shows the next restart time. You can name each schedule (for example "Morning restart") and turn it off for a few days without deleting it. Most admins pick a quiet hour, such as early morning when the fewest players are online.

2

A countdown players can see

When a scheduled restart comes up, Panelra starts a countdown on the server instead of cutting players off. Messages like "Server restarting in 5 minutes" appear in chat, followed by shorter warnings at 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds and the final seconds. The recommended warning time is 5 minutes, which gives players time to get home, close their base doors and log off safely. Everyone looking at the panel sees the same countdown.

3

World save before every scheduled restart

When the countdown ends, Panelra sends a save command and waits for it before stopping the server, so the world, bases and player inventories are written to disk. Then the server starts again and the panel follows it through starting and back to running. If the new process never comes up, a safety timeout ends the restart and you are told something went wrong instead of the server sitting in a restart forever.

4

Cancel a pending restart

Plans change. If a big fight is going on, or you want to push the restart back, press Cancel while the countdown is running and the server keeps running as if nothing happened. The same works for a restart you started by hand with a delay. Pending wipe countdowns can be cancelled the same way.

5

Force restart for a frozen server

A normal restart needs the server to answer RCON so it can warn players and save. When the server is hung, stuck while starting or caught in a crash loop, that is not possible. For those cases the panel offers a force restart: it stops the process and starts it again at once, with no warning and no save. Use it when the server is already unplayable, not as a replacement for the normal restart.

6

Restart history and Discord notices

Every restart, scheduled or manual, shows up in the server's restart history and in the automation history with its trigger, duration and result. If you connect a Discord webhook, Panelra can post when a restart starts and when it has finished, so your community sees the server is coming back without asking in chat.

Why schedule daily restarts on a Rust server?

A Rust server uses more memory the longer it runs. Players build, entities pile up and the game process holds on to memory it no longer needs. After a day or two that can show up as lower server FPS, longer save pauses and, on a busy host, the server running out of memory and crashing at peak time.

A restart once a day at a quiet hour gives the server a clean start and returns that memory to the host. It also means plugin and config changes you made during the day are loaded at a predictable time. Because Panelra warns players and saves the world first, a daily restart costs players a few minutes, not their progress.
